There is a difference between WISHING for a thing and being READY to receive it. No one is ready for a thing, until he believes he can acquire it. The state of mind must be BELIEF, not mere hope or wish. Open-mindedness is essential for belief.

Make Deer Hunting Great Again
Most hunters would agree their love for the outdoors started with deer hunting. Have you ever thought about why?
I think it’s about the adventure. I think it’s about finding common ground with those that you care about. Deer hunting is to the American outdoorsman, as is baseball is to sports fans – it’s our favorite past-time. The deer hunting culture of the past created storytellers, and even legends of ordinary men.
Yet in recent history, Deer hunting has become commercialized – it has became an entertainment industry. And for good reason! The storyline can now be captured through the lens of a camera, but what has happened is a serious backlash. Instead of hunters listening to the tall tales, and wanting to create their own, we are left with goals that are unattainable.
Back when I was a kid, taking any 8 pointer was worthy of a good story. Killing a deer for most of us would make our entire deer season. Why? For many reasons, but one of those reasons was enjoying the camaraderie, reliving the story around our dinner tables with family and friends.
I am about to go into detail about what my goals are, but one thing remains true– First and foremost, I want to have a good time in the outdoors, and I also want to share that with others. I hope that in 2017 you too will have that goal.
Let’s stop the bickering, stop with the name calling on Social Media. If someone wants to shoot a spike buck, so be it. You want to shoot a mature trophy – great! If you are struggling to shoot mature deer, maybe it’s not anyone’s fault, but your own. Save your money and go hunt Kansas, Iowa, or Illinois every year. They will welcome your money. How about this? Spend the extra required time to kill big bucks on your own ground. Put in the work.
Bobby shoots a crossbow, but you shoot with a compound. Great! Who cares what Bobby shoots. Mind your own business. We all need to grow up, take a step back and enjoy the sport.
In 2017 let’s Make Deer Hunting Great Again.
New Year – Zero’d Out
Any salesman that’s had a bad year looks forward to January 1. The 1st day of the year represents a new beginning, a fresh start. It’s like you can change everything bad that’s happened in the past and make it new. Life is similar to sales. You are not perfect – far from it and so am I, we all are. Yesterday doesn’t matter, nor does tomorrow. All that matters is today. How will you live right now?
That’s the great thing about life, we can choose. Will you choose to win, or will you float through this year without a plan, without a goal? You cannot hit what you cannot see, and if you want success in 2017 you must see yourself hitting your targets. Your ability to see the end-result, is as important as the work that it will take to get you there.
It’s my recommendation that you make yourself a hunting goal. Make it something that you really want to make happen in 2017, but make sure it is attainable. Don’t place short term goals in front of yourself that are impossible to hit. Save that for your longterm thinking. I have longterm goals that would seem impossible for most, but I have a plan to make those goals happen – and LORD willing, they will.
